Welcome to my blog, A Duck’s Oven! I’m Chelsea. I am a 20-something graduate of the University of Oregon currently in Portland, OR. I first started this blog as a college student hoping to encourage other students to branch outside of pizza and boxed mac and cheese. While some things have changed since I finished school, I still rely on simple recipes to produce fun, comforting food!
I grew up eating salmon, elk, and venison caught by my dad and I still reap the benefits of his skills with a fishing pole or bow and arrow. I like to think of myself as adventurous with my cooking, but my style is generally of the hearty, comforting variety. Whenever possible, I prefer to cook with local, organic food.
I was born and raised outside of Portland, Oregon and live in Portland now. I did just spend a year living in Cape Town, South Africa and had an incredible experience! I loved sharing all the adventures we had here on my blog, including various cuisines and cooking methods. Seriously, you can now find at least three variations on curry and there were none before.
The condensed version: I like Oregon, bold red wine, traveling, podcasts, flowery wit beers, being busy, perfect steak, and going to as many new restaurants in Portland as I can. Oh, and my
boyfriend fiance husband, known on the blog as “Husband”.
